She Poured Her Heart Out to the Lord: Confessions of Sister Stefanie
The hidden life of a remarkable Orthodox Christian woman is brought to light. Sister Stefanie lived in the midst of wartime Bitola (today in North Macedonia), maintaining a vow of silence while the world around her burned, enduring beatings at the hands of German occupiers with forgiveness on her lips, and waging unseen warfare against demonic forces with the tenacity of the ancient desert saints. Her Confessions — written between 1936 and 1939 and preserved at the great Monastery of Visoki Dečani in Kosovo — pour forth with raw, unguarded love for God. She died on Great Friday, 1945, and was buried at the Monastery of Saint Christopher in Bitola.
Rev. Dr. Daniel Rogich translated her confessions into English for the first time, and offers an insightful Introduction on her spirituality, a detailed Synaxarion of her life, and an Akathist Service to her glory for use in a local church setting.
