Father Meletios: The Blind Savior of Orphans
This is the life of the ever-memorable Monk, Father Meletios Aivazidis (1918–2012), the blind monk who became a protector-father to over 2,000 orphans in Northern Greece during one of its more violent eras of history. Born in Pontos and uprooted by the tragedy of exile, he lost his sight as a child, yet gained the vision of the heart. Called by God to the monastic life, he embraced the Cross and became a vessel of divine compassion. Through years of prayer, humility, and tireless love, he established homes for orphaned children, offering them not only shelter and food, but the warmth of a father's heart.
Rev. Dr. Daniel Rogich introduces for the first time the full life of Father Meletios, a person with whom Rogich had a personal relationship, and translates from Greek to English twenty-four of the Monk's prayers and one of his teachings on the Feast of Pentecost. Also included, for practical use in a local church, is an Akathist Service to honor Father Meletios in a liturgical setting.
